I have a long history of helping people of all ages and walks of life with all kinds of pain & dysfunction in their bodies. I worked at the UW-Madison Athletic Dept as a staff athletic trainer from '88-'99, then got certified/licensed in massage therapy in 2000. I was hired by the UW Hospital & Clinics Sports Medicine program in '00 to start offering massage therapy/bodywork services. In 2001 Dr. Dave Rakel came on board, and we began the UW Health Integrative Medicine program. I provided massage therapy/bodywork clinically, and also coordinated/supervised all acupuncture, massage therapy, Feldenkrais & healing touch services/providers offered in the Integrative Medicine program. In 2002 I took my first John F. Barnes Myofascial Release (MFR) seminar as part of my Continuing Education program. I quickly became fully immersed in that work, taking all of the MFR seminars offered over the next few years. I also started assisting at MFR seminars and leading a local MFR study group. My position at UW afforded me many opportunities to educate medical students, residents, fellows, physicians, other healthcare providers and others within the UW Hospital & Clinics system about MFR. I retired from my UW Hospital & Clinics position in 2020 in order to focus my energies on my private practice. I continue to repeat and assist at MFR seminars regularly, and love offering this important therapeutic modality.
