The concepts of healing and wellness have always intrigued me. At a young age, I wanted to help people in any way possible. I was giving my teacher back rubs in elementary school, pursuing 4H in order to get closer to my idea of becoming a veterinarian, and volunteering wherever I could just to enjoy presence with others. Living through service was something that arose naturally in my environment. As I got older and my dreams and desires shifted, I still found the human body fascinating in its ability to maintain, transform, and catalyze growth in so many ways. I became passionate about fitness, nutrition, and contemplative study. Various teachers along the way supported me to this end and I received training in contemplative medicine, as well as mind-body mediations, somatic studies, and trauma resolution. All this served my ability to garner my own sense of health and wellbeing as I traversed some difficult medical situations. I came to believe that all of health is an inside job, with our mind-body connection serving as the ripe axis with which we can affect change in our system. Because of this, when I entered bodywork school at East West College of the Healing Arts, I transformed on levels I wasn't prepared for! I am passionate about this work because I have seen its effects personally and professionally. This space is not something I take lightly. I am grateful for every second I get to practice this work with others, as well as receive the benefits of it myself. For me, practicing bodywork invites a gentleness, bravery, and wisdom that eludes all sense of ego. I am allowed into a space that I find truly divine. I am grateful for every opportunity I get to practice this wonderful medicine!
