I started my massage therapy career in 2004 when I was working at a call center for an online pharmacy in Tampa, Florida. This pharmacy filled prescriptions for chronic pain clinics across the US and soon after taking a large volume of calls, I began to question if there was a healthier way to manage pain. Massage therapy seemed like a natural solution, not only for me career-wise, but also for future, potential clients. I wanted to help people either reduce the amount of pain medication they were taking or help them get to a place where they did not need to take it at all. I enjoyed many years working as an independent contractor in various settings before coming across the John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach™. About 15 yrs. ago, a friend of mine, who is a Barnes-trained therapist, started treating me and my body awareness began to deepen in a way that I did not know was possible. I didn't always understand what was happening, but I was fascinated by the responses and changes my body was experiencing, especially a reduction in my pain, and I wanted to know more. I took my first MFR seminar in 2010 and I have continued to take and repeat seminars ever since. In 2019, I was able to study and work directly with John himself for a week at his treatment center, The Sanctuary in Malvern, PA. JFBMFR is truly a unique modality, and it is often considered the missing piece to the healthcare puzzle. It often produces results where others have failed, and this is one of the many reasons why I love John’s approach to Myofascial Release. Not only does it treat the pain itself, but it also looks for the cause of the pain and treats that as well. I help people who may have given up hope or been told that there is nothing further that can be done. I want people to be able to enjoy their lives as fully and with as little pain as possible. In my spare time, I love to cook and bake, go for walks & spend time in Nature, and snuggle up with a good book or movie. In the Summer, I love to garden and go to concerts or see live music. Dancing is one of my favorite things to do, though it’s mostly in the kitchen when I am cooking or needing to move my body & help my nervous system. Coffee with friends is always a favorite and spending time with dogs (and other furry friends) makes my heart feel full.
