A Note From the Founder: Evan Rock, LMT, GCFP
Welcome! I am so glad you are here.
I have been a Massage Therapist since 2010 and a Feldenkrais Practitioner since 2015. I strongly believe in the resiliency of my client's bodies and I feel that the solution to an individual's wellness is not outside of themselves. I know that in order to find freedom from pain, the nervous system must learn a new organization, and in order for that learning to take place the client must feel safe. This focus on safety, not only through a comfortable atmosphere, but intentional listening and deliberate communication, sets my practice apart. Saratoga Awareness is a place which not only provides quality and effective massage therapy and Feldenkrais Functional Integration to people of the Capital Region, but does so in an atmosphere where clients are empowered to become interested in their own health and aware of their own learned habits that may be inhibiting their optimal functioning. Saratoga Awareness is a space where individuals can broaden and reach the amazing potential of their unique body.
At Saratoga Awareness, I specialize in Feldenkrais Functional Integration and a Deep Tissue healing massage that is a unique blend of my trainings and education, strongly influenced by the Feldenkrais Method and sprinkled with notes of Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy and even Reiki. Each session is crafted in real time to a client's present state, with consideration of their past, and leaves a client more and more familiar with the sensations they want to bring into their future. Each session is a conversation with the client's nervous system which identifies the learning it would benefit from in order to improve itself. Often at the end of a session, I allow the client time to feel the newness and changes and then give them tips and tricks on how they can make room to sustain those changes and establish a new baseline of comfort in their daily lives moving forward.
At Saratoga Awareness I serve people of all ages, genders, interests, and ability levels. My clients generally come through the door with acute pain, chronic pain, or limited mobility, but they return as they find that their whole system is affected by the work and that an improvement in any part is an improvement in the functioning of the whole. It is my hope that my clients come to know and rely on their amazing, dynamic, ever-changing, and ever-changeable bodies. I love to work with athletes young and old, people who crave to be more active, people who struggle with anxiety or depression, people going through times of change or transition in their lives, people struggling with or living with chronic conditions like cancer, neurological disorders, and autoimmune disorders, and people with busy schedules who need a space to experience deep relaxation and presence.
I absolutely love the work that I do. Saratoga Awareness is my sanctuary and it can be yours too!
Reach out, ask me any questions, share any concerns or triumphs, my door is open. Contact me by phone, text, or email.
I look forward to seeing you soon!

Saratoga Awareness Origin Story
Having excelled in the sciences and with a deep interest in psychology, sociology, and what made people tick in high school, I originally thought I wanted to study medicine in college. I didn't however have any financial help from my parents and being the first generation to attend college from both sides of a blue collar family, I felt an urgency to get out into the workforce. Something drew me to Massage Therapy, and so from high school I went to Morrisville State College and got my Associates of Applied Science in Massage. Just a month out of graduation, I found myself working as a Massage Therapist under a limited permit at a growth-oriented small business in Latham, NY. As I found my footing, got my license, and had the opportunity to work on many clients, not only did my skill as a therapist grow, but my skills of organization and communication, and my interest in the human condition, began to shine and I quickly moved into a leadership role. Over the next 5 1/2 years we grew the business into three locations across the Capital Region, and I managed a staff of 14 therapists.
In 2011, I was mailed a postcard for something called The Feldenkrais Method. I needed continuing education for my license so I decided to check out the free full-day introductory workshop at the Feldenkrais Institute in Manhattan. Little did I know that this postcard would mold the entire course of my career and life, as the Feldenkrais Method became my raison d'être, seeping into every thought and action.
In 2015, just as I reached the partner-level at the now mid-sized Massage and Bodywork business, just as I graduated my 4 year Feldenkrais training in NYC, and just as I became engaged to my now husband, I was unexpectedly let go. This was devastating, and I decided I simply couldn't work for anyone else again. With my experience running the day-to-day of a business for 5 1/2 years, and my honed and niched skill as a Massage Therapist and Feldenkrais Practitioner, I started my practice, Saratoga Awareness, in December 2015.
As I have found over the years, it often takes me being kicked out to realize it has long been time to move on, and as Saratoga Awareness' client base quickly grew, I realized what a blessing this was. I could finally let go of the business growth mindset and make the client central to the practice. I could give extra time if extra time was needed, I could communicate personally and take the time needed to build trust and safety that is required for growth and true client transformation. I could be the dynamic therapist I was meant to be.
Since then, I have gotten married, witnessed the passing of my mother, had 2 children, and continued to learn and grow in all aspects of my life. Saratoga Awareness has become well established, and it is known that here, the client and their individual needs are my top priority.
The work I do is my passion and I am ever-changing, growing, and learning, something I know to be true of every body. Come check out what Saratoga Awareness has to offer, Massage Therapy and Feldenkrais: Better Functioning for Every Body.
