Mary Bohan Sather LMT is a graduate of The Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage and a member of the American Massage Therapy Association. She is a highly skilled in Massage Therapy, Energy Work and is a Certified Cupping Practitioner. She has experience working in both clinical and spa environments. Mary combines Eastern and Western techniques to facilitate a holistic healing experience. She seamlessly couples her extensive knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology with her intuitive style to provide a deeply relaxing, yet effective experience. She genuinely understands the power of a healthy mind-body connection and prides herself on creating an experience which honors the whole person. She accomplishes this through a three-pronged approach, simultaneously addressing the mind and body and spirit. Mind: Mary stays well-informed on all emerging scientific research pertaining to the benefits of massage on your mental health and nervous system. She understands first-hand the undeniable healing power of “returning to oneself”. In order to support the mental health of her clients effectively and responsibly, Mary has taken additional training courses in both Massage for Depression and Massage for General Anxiety Disorder (GAD). Mary is also trained in Hospice and Palliative Care Massage, as she recognizes the healing power of touch during moments of stress and grief. She especially enjoys working with clients who are seeking a renewed acceptance and connection of their body. She also loves working with clients who are new to massage, as she feels part of her gift is alleviating any apprehension or anxiety one may feel when trying Massage Therapy for the first time. Body: During her time working at a bustling spa, Mary made a name for herself as one of the most sought-after deep tissue and cupping Massage therapists. She currently trains other Massage Therapists in Cupping Therapy at a well-known national Massage Franchise. She understands the power of using massage as part of a larger treatment plan to address general musculoskeletal pain. Her past career as a teacher allows her to effectively communicate possible anatomical and physiological causes of soft tissue pain and dysfunction. As massage therapy is a passive treatment, she encourages her clients to implement more active approaches in conjunction with her services. This includes stretching, self-massage and strengthening exercises to be implemented at home in between sessions. Spirit: Mary is a level III Reiki Master with additional training in the Eastern practices of Acupressure along meridians (“Your energetic Highway”), balancing chakras, and Ayurveda. She has seen a rise in stress, lethargy and energy depletion and advocates for the importance of “dropping back” into your body. As a 10-year Collaborative Art Gallery owner, Mary also celebrates the power of the physical environment as it pertains to feeling relaxed, inspired, and rejuvenated. Her attention to detail while creating her treatment spaces is apparent. She incorporates a wide variety of sensory enhancements which delight the spirit. Her treatment space has a truly inspiring and rejuvenating aesthetic and is surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. From her signature body butter, use of light and interior design, Essential oil infused hot towels…no detail is overlooked.
