Susie has been practicing massage for as long as she can remember. Her father, a graphic designer, would always volunteer his children to give him short, 10 minute back rubs after dinner from working on the computer all day. As a child, Susie was unimpressed with performing these back rubs, but was more excited for what she got in return--the opportunity to take control of the TV remote during th ese 10 precious minutes. Though her hands hurt from doing so, she continued to give her father back rubs, and over the years, he would comment on her natural abilities and had even suggested it as a career path. When he would mention this, her reaction was always the same-- "Yea right, I don't want to rub backs for a living." Fast forward... After a year and a half of attending a four year college and realizing it wasn't the right place for her, Susie took some time to "soul search" and find a new career path. Massage Therapy had come up in conversation once or twice, so she decided to look into it. A family member ofher father's good friend owned a small massage therapy school in Mays Landing, NJ, and in the beginning of 2007, Susie became a student at Atlantic County Healing Arts Institute. Shortly after becoming enrolled, it became evident to her that this is what she was put on Earth to do. She always had a passion for helping people, and she realized, through proper technique and protocol, just how rewarding and healing massage therapy was. From there, she was fully engulfed in her passion. Once she graduated from the full-time intensive program from ACSHA, Susie was determined to practice in a field she grew to love, but New Jersey was limited with its holistic resources and day spas in 2007. In February of 2008, she moved to Denver, Colorado--home to some of the best massage therapy schools--where she enrolled into the Denver School of Massage Therapy and completed a 815 hour long program which covered a wide variety of modalities (types of massage). Her knowledge and skill of massage and the human body helped Susie land a career opportunity at an up-and-coming spa chain that started in the Denver area, before she even graduated from DSMT! This position she held for six years, where she also earned the role of mentor to other massage therapists and additionally helped as a spa attendant on occasion--giving her a well rounded view at how the spa industry worked. In 2010, she also joined forces with another well known Denver massage and wellness clinic, where she worked alongside massage therapists who held specific specialties within the field while also learning the ins and outs of how wellness clinics operated in comparison to spas. This is also where her interest in essential oils and homemade products/remedies evolved, thanks to the natural apothecary connected to the clinic. In July of 2014, after the sudden demise of the wellness clinic she worked at, Susie decided the best opportunity was to take all the tools she had learned over the years and finally open up her own business. And so, Where Soul Meets Body: Massage Therapy and Integrative Therapy was born in the Denver Metro Area, where she happily grew her practice with many loyal clients for two and half years. Alas, in 2017, after nine years of living in beautiful Colorado, Susie decided that she missed home and made the 2,800 mile trip back to New Jersey, taking Where Soul Meets Body with her. She is looking forward to starting a new chapter with new clients where she can relax the bodies, educate the minds, and renew the souls of all she has the pleasure of working with. Training in the following modalities: Swedish | Deep Tissue | Sports | Orthopedic | Craniosacral | Prenatal | Reflexology | Spa Treatments | Hot Stones | Chair Massage | Myofascial Release | Aromatherapy | Posture Assessment | Certified Trauma Touch Therapist(TM) **Sidenote for those booking "Susie Smash" massages: My massage was given the nickname of the "Susie Smash" by one of my clients who claims that , "because of the physical size of Susie, the only explanation of where she gets her strength is that she is made of gamma radiation (similar to the Hulk), therefore performing the 'Susie Smash.'" **
Go on, be a good friend and share MassageBook with them. They'll love you for it.
