A client once said to me, "I have to tell my coworkers that I'm going to physical therapy when I get a massage." Remembering the first massage I ever received (in a candlelit room with slow, string music looping throughout), I completely understood why my client felt that way. If the outdated stereotype of a "parlor" doesn't come to mind, most people when they hear the word "massage" will picture the same bohemian-curtained spa room as where I received my first massage--a place of overpriced luxury. After graduating from Lexington Healing Arts Academy in 2018, I found that many massage studios operate the same way as my first massage therapist: giving the same full-body relaxation massage to every client regardless of what they say they want. My goal for your massage is to listen to what you do want. I am skilled in both therapeutic and relaxation techniques and can integrate them to whatever levels of recovery or relaxation you prefer. And if you don't want meditation music, I will listen.
