Teaching yoga from the early 2000's. I have witnessed my fair share of people in pain. They are usually referred to yoga after a doctor's recommendation. However, group yoga classes are not always suitable for those with injuries. I began to explore Trigger Point Therapy and self-care techniques that I learned from a board certified trigger point therapist and combined them with yoga stretches. My flexibility increased and general muscle pain decreased, leading to a greater range of motion and functionality. I headed to massage school and obtained my license and also have an advanced certification in Frequency Specific Microcurrent and Egoscue postural therapy. I love to treat the whole body because how we move and how and why our bodies adapt are all relevant to the discomfort we are feeling. I have studied movement and gait compensations. If our hips are out of balance, our shoulders are compensating and our feet most likely are as well and sooner or later it will show up as pain or lack of range of motion. It is never just one issue because as yoga teaches us, everything is connected, we are not separate parts. Everything works in relationship to something else.
