Essentially, a healthy, balanced body is free from upset; therefore aches, pains, stiffness, and soreness can be simply viewed as symptoms of imbalance. Whether caused by trauma (a car accident or sports injury, for example) or overuse (perhaps from long hours on the computer), the right massage treatment plan will provide you the direct path to achieve and sustain your health.
I begin each session with a brief consultation, which helps me determine the most appropriate treatment plan. During the initial consultation, it is imperative to be open and honest about your current health and medical history.
Some people think that a "good" massage should hurt. This is NOT true although sometimes it does hurt but you are in complete control of how much pain you want to feel. I use a pain scale of 1-10. 10 being unbearable. I like to keep pain at a 5-6 which is a feel good pain. Anything over that will most likely result in unnecessary soreness and bruised muscles. In my professional experience, the only time massage hurts is when the true source of trauma is found and this is typically identified with the lightest pressure: All it takes is a little attention in the right place to achieve whole body balance.
