I have dedicated years to understanding my own body in order to improve my health. My journey has taken me through two yoga teacher trainings, a 950 hour therapeutic massage program, and countless hours of study, and I can confidently say that I can assist you because I've helped myself. My desire to support my communities and to not live in physical pain were the driving forces behind my quest for self healing and preservation. My interest in yoga started in 2016 during my transition from military to civilian life. From 2016 to 2021, I committed myself to learn about yoga and reconnect with a body I had spent much of my life feeling disconnected from. During a yoga teacher training retreat, where I began finding relief through movement, breath, and meditation, I was also receiving daily massage therapy. This experience linked everything I had been learning about my healing body. This connection, which was further reinforced by attending massage school in 2021, now informs my technique and practice of therapeutic bodywork. I firmly believe that successful healing comes from 50% personal effort and inner connection to our physical bodies and aligning with our purpose, and 50% outward connection to our communities and receiving physical touch from those we trust. My intention with Body Philosophy is to encompass the WHOLE human experience. The name acknowledges that the healing process involves more than just trigger point work, myofascial release, and stretching. While we do all these things, it's my approach that maximizes the benefits of the massage. I welcome everyone to book with me, and I suggest setting aside an extra 15 minutes before the massage to discuss your backstory and needs. Please note, unprofessional requests are not tolerated. I do not provide services to those requesting a massage without proper draping procedures. My goal is to provide a safe space for all seeking healing, and inappropriate queries overstep my professional boundaries. I look forward to meeting those who are committed to healing. Come see me for some deep rest, Dana *Veterans: I am a community care provider, so reach out!
