A Little About Leigh Ann
After 18 years as a Medical Office Manager I returned to school to do what I love; nurturing and caring for others. I opened Oasis Massage Therapy in March of 2012 after graduation from Touching America - Hot Springs School of Massage. Since graduation I have acquired certifications and additional education as follows;
- National certification in Pediatric Massage (CPMT) from the Liddle Kidz Foundation, Wellspring School of Allied Health, Kansas City, Kansas
- National Certification in Manual Lymph Drainage (CMLDT) KLOSE Training, CARTI - Little Rock
- 45 hours Specialized training Oncology Massage, Tracy Walton & Associates, Lauterstein Conway School, Austin, Texas
- 18 Hours Specialized training Breast Cancer Rehab, KLOSE Training, Washington University Medical School, PT Department, St. Louis
- Certified - Therapeutic Art Coach, Transformation Academy
I combine all my experience and training in a therapeutic, integrative style, working with clients to find ways to gently and effectively treat and manage pain, as well as providing bodywork for those with illness and disease. Clients receive the most benefit when they feel comfortable and trusting of the therapist. For that reason, I work with clients either fully dressed or disrobed to their comfort level. Rather than scheduling a particular technique or style, I suggest my clients select the amount of time they prefer, tell me the purpose or goal of the visit, then allow me to go to work. I will combine all my experience and tools to deliver the best care possible. Whether you are a mother, healthcare professional, lawyer, desk jockey, food service professional, etc., all are treated with the same love and respect. ALL are welcome.
“But do you do DEEP TISSUE?” - Good question. The answer is yes, but here’s the thing; there is no one technique that is called “deep tissue”. Deep Tissue simply means that the individual muscle(s) are being engaged and addressed as opposed to a whole hand, broad stroke. I take a different approach by keeping just this side of pain and working in the “hurts so good” range. When a therapist administers touch that elicits true pain it activates your sympathetic nervous system or “fight or flight” response. Once this occurs the body is in protective mode making it difficult for the client to relax and even more difficult for the massage therapist to deliver healing work. By working with the parasympathetic nervous system, or “rest and digest” I can work deeper and more effectively without pain resulting in longer lasting results.
APPOINTMENT AVAILABILITY
I offer appointments Monday through Thursday, and Saturdays as needed. My sweet husband supports me 100% and weekends are our time as I get home late during the week. First appointment of the day is 9:00 a.m. (earlier if needed) and during daylight savings time months as late at 7:30 p.m.
If you are a new client you will be required to pay in advance for your first visit. When you book a massage you are basically paying for my time, which I happen to spend providing you massage care. If you do not show up for your appointment, I am still here but can not offer that time to someone else. Your prepaid amount will not be refunded. If you provide at least 6 hours notice, I will gladly reschedule and not charge for the rescheduled appointment. Things happen. :)
PHONE CALLS
To keep my overhead low and my rates down, I do not have a receptionist. My office number, 501-205-1908 is able to receive both text and calls or you may leave a message. Calls are returned either during my lunch break or at the close of my business day. You are welcome to contact me at oasisappts@gmail.com.Often I am able to quickly respond to an email or text between clients easier than returning a call and being tied up when a client arrives for their session.
GIFT CERTIFICATES - After 13 years of building a practice I have reached a point where I will no longer be offering gift certificates for new clients. Friends and family of existing clients are welcome to purchase a gift certificate or prepay for a service. EXCEPTION: If you are wanting to give the gift of touch to someone being actively treated for or living with cancer, or recovered from but experiencing postsurgical or radiation pain I am honored to do so. At the time of purchase I will book a tentative appointment which can be shifted as needed.
PEDIATRIC SERVICES - I love working with young people. Massage and bodywork can help to ease growing pains (which are real), sports injuries and fatigue, ease stress and anxiety and promote good body image and self respect. I offer care to ages 5 and up. Clients under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
