Michigan native but raised primarily in Georgia, Carmla has been a resident of Birmingham, Alabama for 27 years. Carmla completed her 900-hr training in 2014 from Virginia College at Birmingham where she received her diploma in neuromuscular therapy. She started working immediately for a busy spa where she was able to continue to learn from other seasoned therapist while she also continued to deepen her knowledge and understanding of how to best serve and treat her clients. As many of her clients were elderly or suffered from chronic conditions, she chose to place the focus of continuing her education on treating chronic pain conditions like fibromyalgia. Ironically, she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome after she suffered an injury in 2017. Which forced her to return to her first love which is nutrition. Through whole food plant-based nutrition, gentle movement, and self-care she’s been able to overcome both of the diagnosis’ she was given. In addition to massage therapy she also facilitates group gentle chair yoga & functional fitness classes for seniors. While also offering life-coaching and wholistic nutrition consultations to her clients. Bodywork of any kind is counter productive if you aren’t also providing the body with the support it also needs via the right kind of nutrition, spiritual, and also mental support. Which is why Carmla has made continuing her education a major priority for her personal growth and development. She is also certified as a holistic nutrition consultant, herbalism, aromatherapy, cognitive behavioral life coaching, guided meditation, and most recently in 2021 she received a certification as a 200-hr yoga teacher. Her approach to the body is intuitive in nature. It is with complete understanding that the key to optimal wellness begins with giving full attention to ALL things that make up the human body. And this starts with addressing the ‘root cause’ of the pain or condition. What she shares in common with the majority of her clients is that she also has a desire to live healthier, feel better, and to be free of chronic pain, dis-ease, dis-orders, stress, or anxiety. It’s important to her that her clients not only feel better but that they are also able to live better. She has a real desire to see everyone who is chronically suffering be (W)hole (H)healed (O)vercomers (L)iving (I)nspired. That is her goal ! And as a chronic warrior herself she is drawn to the modalities that best helps the body to achieve this. She is able to offer this in part through massage services that she currently offer like: Relaxing Swedish Deep Swedish Trigger point therapy Gentle touch therapy Massage + Yoga With add on’s like: Aromatherapy Hemp Pain Relief Deep Sea Black Mud * (coming soon) Guided Meditation (Yoga + Massage) Carmla is committed to providing her clients with the support, service, and resources that they’ll need in order to assist them on their journey & their quest to be the best possible versions of themselves.
