Intro:
My practice revolves around injuries, chronic pain, and deep discomfort caused by underused or overused tissues. Each session is focused on restoring motion, vitality and ease. It is my aim to make every session as beneficial as possible. I hope that you take a moment to read about my approach so that we can best accomplish your bodywork needs.
I do this work because I thrive when I am able to help people out of pain and into understanding and ease. I love sparking curiosity about our experiences as embodied people and sharing what I discover through my own exploration.
Experience:
I have worked with post-surgery patients, those undergoing or having recently undergone chemotherapy, athletes with recent injuries, weekend warriors with chronic pain, desk-workers with stiff spines, workers with chronic neck/shoulder tension, elderly clients seeking to retain their mobility, stressed moms and dads, fitness enthusiasts learning to take care of their body through exercise, movers discovering themselves through trial and error…the list goes on. Thousands of hours of hands-on experience, thousands of hours of reading and study, thousands of hours of training myself in acrobatics, strength, mobility, endurance and dance. I am committed to discovering how the body and mind interface with our environment. This is a lifelong pursuit I continue to unfold and bring to others.
Technique:
I combine a variety of modalities including myofascial release, sports massage, trigger point, functional range rehabilitation, stretching, lymphatic and many others. Each modality is simply a different type of pressure, hold, duration, speed and intention that requires continual adjustment based on what arises from the body. It is a dynamic experience and it is my work to be present and focus on what is needed moment to moment.
What to expect:
A session might look like long holds in deep stretches to open up the fascial tissue. It might be vigorous friction work to bring blood flow to the surface of dehydrated tissue. It might be deep tissue pressure and glides that shear stuck layers of fascia from bone to skin. I may cue certain breathing patterns to help release tension and bring about a more parasympathetic, whole, and relaxed state. It is a collaborative process: the more we can understand your body, the more beneficial we make our time working together.
