Candice Holtermann, Certified Massage Practitioner through the state of California (#59559), has been practicing massage therapy since completing her training with the California Holistic Institute in San Luis Obispo in 2014. By the age of twenty five, Candice had already had 3 ACL recontructions, one hip bone graph, overcome chronic back pain and given birth to one beautiful daughter. These injuries and recoveries sparked her passion for holistic health and well-being. She found relief from her pain through muscle releases and adjustments while under the care of a Chiropractor who is an Active Release Technique Provider and through continuous functional training. After massage school, Candice continued her education at Fresno State University studying Exercise Science. Candice received her Bachelors in 2018. She is also full body and long tract nerve Active Release Technique Certified (ART) , Functional Movement Screen (FMS) Certified, Selective Functional Movement Screen (SFMA) trained, and Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) trained. Most Recently, she has become certified as a Birthfit Coach to train prenatal and postpartum women and help support them through their motherhood journey.
"Bodywork does not stop at mobilization techniques. You must continue to fixing your movement patterns for long term health."
She values knowledge as the means by which she can better facilitate each client's healing process, as well as indulging her love of teaching people about their own bodies. She specializes in Sports Massage, Active Release Technique, and Functional Training.
Sports massage is massage therapy that focuses on an athlete’s needs in preparation, recovery, and maintenance from their sport.
Active Release Technique is the most advanced soft tissue technique available. It is a hands-on therapy where the provider focuses on a specific injury and applies a unique pressure, tension, and range of motion. This will reduce scar tissue in order to separate, release, and stretch the connective tissue adhesions. This will help restore vascular and lymph circulation, increase your range of motion, increase flexibility and increase strength. Breaking these adhesions might cause some discomfit during the session, similar to a very specific deep tissue massage combined with trigger point therapy and muscular activation.
How can Active Release Technique Help Me?
Many conditions such as headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, lower back pain, neck pain, and rotator cuff syndromecan benefit from an ART session because many of these injuries are caused by overuse and fall into the accumulative pain cycle.
ART sessions usually last 15-30minutes depending on how many areas are being focused on.
