Integrative long strokes and deep therapeutic touch
My interest in the transformative power of touch began during my three years of residence at the Esalen Institute, a historic healing retreat center. I immersed myself in the study of a wide variety of somatic healing modalities including, Esalen Massage and Deep Bodywork, Feldenkrais, Craniosacral Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, yoga therapy, and 5 Rhythms Dance.
My work is also informed by my graduate studies and clinical experience in medical massage. After completing a fellowship at UCSF's Osher Center for Integrative Medicine where I earned certifications in oncology, complex neurological conditions, pediatric, and palliative massage therapy, I went on to serve seriously ill patients in the in-patient setting at UCSF's Parnassus hospital as lead massage therapist.
I now serve medically complex patients at Marinhealth's Integrative Wellness Center in Larkspur, California. To enhance my ability to serve these patients, I am completing a Palliative Care Certification Training Program Certification through Healwell, an organization that champions the integration of massage therapy into hospitals and healthcare settings. I am passionate about supporting efforts to include healing touch as a standard of care in allopathic medicine, giving all individuals access to healing touch by well-trained and highly skilled massage therapists.
In addition, I am pursuing continuing education in Manual Osteopathy, Structural Integration, Craniosacral Therapy, and Visceral Manipulation. Immersive study in these approaches inform my body assessment and palpation skills, along with my ability to offer subtle body approaches that regulate the nervous system.
