Integrative Therapeutic Massage Care
Sheldon graduated from the Community College of Rhode Island's Therapeutic Massage Program and holds an Associates Degree in applied science. Sheldon's interest in therapeutic massage was born from his experience as a soccer coach, coaching young players in Jamaica W.I. and in the United States of America.
Sheldon has coached field dynamics, competitive health and skill development with the Rhode Island Reds FC in Providence RI as a founding coach, preparing semi-professional soccer players for competition in the National Premier league. At the youth level, Sheldon coached middle school soccer at The Gordon School in East Providence RI, with additional responsibilities to develop, staff and run soccer enrichments (ages 3- 10) and summer programs (ages 3 - 14). He also holds a State/Regional National Level 3 soccer coaching license awarded by US Youth Soccer Association issued by Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association.
Massage training at the Community College of Rhode Island provided a firm foundation for expansion in four modalities, namely, Shiatsu, Swedish, Deep Tissue massage and Sports-Specific Massage. Sheldon's work with these four modalities, combined with his practical knowledge of the dynamic human body, provides a client-centered approach to massage, treating to improve optimal structural function. During his tenor at Body Kneads Inc, Sheldon worked as the lead Therapeutic Massage Therapist in collaboration with VA Community Care to care for our veterans in the areas of Pain management, Pre and post surgery rehabilitative care and occupational mobility. Under the tutelage of Coral Osborne, Sheldon is trained to provide prenatal and postpartum therapeutic massage care.
