Ebb and flow is the nature of the Universe. Night becomes day. The moon waxes and wanes. Ocean tides rise and fall. A season of sowing is succeeded by a season of harvesting. And just as the world we live in abides by these cyclical laws, our bodies mirror similar patterns. We breathe in, we breathe out. Our hearts beat and then relax. Muscles contract and then they rest. All creatures on this planet are designed to follow the ebb and flow of this complex existence.
When a person is in tune with these rhythms, all facets of their being are in alignment. However, at times we may find ourselves out of sync with our individual rhythms due to abrupt life changes, altered sleep patterns, or unresolved worries. If a disrupted cycle persists, it negatively impacts physical and mental functions. For instance, when stress is not dealt with appropriately, it manifests in the physical body as jaw tension, headaches, neck pain, or back pain. Decreasing stressors can help alleviate many of these undesirable conditions.
Massage therapy and energy work can be used in two ways to get back to homeostasis, or a natural state of ebb and flow. First it can give a client a much needed reset by helping the body relax. Secondly, it focuses to rectify muscle dysfunction caused by tightness or injury and soothes muscle soreness. Both of these help to restore muscle function, range of motion, and promote an overall feeling of well-being.
As a massage therapist, I use an array of massage modalities to tailor every session to meet the needs of each client. I assist others in tapping into the awareness of their bodies so together we can identify the root cause of their pain and address it. I strive to create a safe space that allows clients to relax and let go of stress so they can find balance in their bodies once again.
