JFB Myofascial Release is the Gold Standard of bodywork therapy.
Your Fascial System Connects EVERYTHING In Your Body!
Imagine wearing a tight bodysuit or sweater, and pulling the bodysuit or sweater where your surgery scar is, or where you fell and hit your knee, or where the limited range of motion in your shoulder is. That is a fascial restriction. And as that restriction hardens, you will experience more pain, more dysfunction through your body and more mobility issues as time goes on.
Since the fascial system wraps around every nerve, muscle, artery, vein and bone in your body, and around every organ in your body, let your mind visualize the 3 dimensional bodysuit or sweater full of dysfunction, going deeper and deeper into the body; down to bone level. This is why massage only provides temporary relief. This is why other modalities only touch the surface of the problem.
When the fascial system gets a restriction, it disrupts the entire body!
This is why John F. Barnes Myofascial Release works so effectively and gives long lasting (and over time, permanent) relief!
As a JFB MFR Therapist, my job is to find the restrictions in your fascial system and to release them. I do this by visually inspecting the body during the 90 minute Initial Consultation and then by feeling deep into the body using various JFB MFR techniques. This is a science and an art.
John F. Barnes Myofascial Release IS the missing link in healthcare!
A Note from John F. Barnes:
"Someone recently posed this question to me: “It seems we’ve become a society obsessed with the notion of hydration, as witnessed by the blooming bottled water industry. Seems as though, everywhere you go, you can see people with their water bottles in tow. Could you please share your thoughts on how relevant our fascial system correlates with cellular hydration and therefore how to improve the effectiveness of keeping ourselves truly hydrated?”
As this therapist has observed, everyone is walking around with their cute little water bottles, guzzling copious amounts of water. This is about as effective as pouring water over a stone. The surface becomes wet, but the water never penetrates to the interior. The “stones” I am referring to are the collagenous
restrictions of the fascial system that do not show up in any of the standard testing now being done.
The “ground substance” of the fascial system, the environment of every cell of our body, should be a
gelatinous to a fluid state. When we undergo trauma or a “thwarted” inflammatory process, the ground
substance dehydrates. As the cellular environment (the fascial system) hardens it produces crushing
pressure on the cells and blocks the flow of water, nutrition, oxygen, hormones, and/or medicine into
the cell’s interior. These fascial restrictions also block the excretion of toxins from the cell.
So, unfortunately no matter how much water you take in, in the presence of fascial restrictions, it doesn’t get to where your body needs it the most. This is why I say, without Myofascial Release, the intention of drinking plenty of water is good, but it is as effective as pouring water over a stone! Myofascial Release enhances cellular function and the effectiveness of good massage, bodywork, and energy techniques.
Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. This essential “time element” has to do with the viscous flow and the piezoelectric phenomenon: a low load (gentle pressure) applied slowly will allow a viscoelastic medium (fascia) to elongate.
The use of Myofascial Release allows us to look at each patient as a unique individual. Our one-on-one therapy sessions are hands-on treatments during which our therapists use a multitude of Myofascial Release techniques and movement therapy. We promote independence through education in proper body mechanics and movement, self-treatment instruction, enhancement of strength, improved flexibility, and postural and movement awareness."
What is Myofascial Release?
Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.
Trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures create Myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures of approximately 2,000 pounds per square inch on pain sensitive structures that do not show up in many of the standard tests (x-rays,myelograms, CAT scans, electromyography)
Myofascial Release (MFR) is a manual therapy approach. MFR utilizes techniques that are very different from other forms of manual therapy. The therapist finds restrictions in your myofascial system (myo = muscles; fascia = connective tissues) and gently stretches, or “releases”, those restrictions to improve function, minimize pain, and restore individuals to an optimal life experience.
Because the fascial system is a continuous, uninterrupted 3-dimensional web that runs from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet, it directly impacts and influences every system and motion center of the body. Fascial restrictions are frequently the root cause of chronic pain, immobility, and/or decreased function in millions of frustrated clients.
Through the gentle, non-invasive touch of MFR, many people have experienced the benefits of reducing or eliminating:
