As someone who worked in healthcare for several years before becoming a massage therapist, I have seen firsthand how altogether too many people are treated by their healthcare providers - they walk away feeling unseen, unheard, and are no better off than when they came in. At Body in Balance, my clients are so much more to me than just a number! My passion is helping my clients achieve better quality of life, and less pain!
I primarily offer medical massage, which can still be very relaxing but is specifically focused on results rather than relaxation. If you are looking for strictly relaxation, I am more than happy to refer you to a wonderful therapist that I highly recommend! If you struggle with any of the issues listed below, then neuromuscular massage (NMT) might be more beneficial to you:
- Chronic pain
- Limited range of motion
- Muscle tightness
- Injuries/car accidents
- Whiplash
- Scar tissue
- Nerve compression
- Headaches
- Plantar fasciitis
- Carpel tunnel-like symptoms
- TMJ disorder
- Poor posture
- Knee/ankle/hip pain
- Jaw pain
What is neuromuscular massage? Neuromuscular massage is a specific massage technique that focuses on releasing trigger points (painful areas of contraction) in the muscle and specific issues that are causing you pain. It may not always feel quite as smooth as Swedish or deep tissue at times, and often requires some feedback from you regarding pain or discomfort. You may also be occasionally asked to activate certain muscles for these techniques. One of the benefits (besides improvement of pain and discomfort!) is that you do not need to undress for this type of massage.
I look forward to hearing from you! Call, text or email today to book an appointment!
