I started my massage therapy journey almost 24 years ago. During my studies of sports medicine at Ricks College (now BYU-Idaho) I had the thought that if I learned preventative care I could keep my athletes on their playing field, therefore being a better asset to the team I hoped to work. It was in Moscow, Idaho that I started massage school, but was unable to finish due to the timing of the birth of my third daughter (I later had 2 sons). It wasn’t until 2 years later, in Las Vegas, Nevada that I was able to start and finish at Nevada School of Massage Therapy.
In my 19+ years as a Licensed Massage Therapist I have been able to work and volunteer in many amazing settings. Some of them being: pre and post event massages for the Saint George marathon, Las Vegas Ironman, Rogue River triathlon, Southwestern Oilmen Tennis Tournament (SWOTT), and as needed on the sidelines of my children’s sports teams; a spa in Park City, UT; multiple wellness centers; and currently my own studio, Healing River, in Kempner, TX.
I have studied and/or taken continuing education courses on reflexology, prenatal massage, cranio-sacral massage, sports massage, kinesio taping, trigger point therapy, Lomi lomi, myofascial release, Swedish massage, and many others. My typical massage is a combination of multiple styles to give the individual body the work it needs to best come to balance.
In addition to being a massage therapist, I spent 8 years as a physical therapist assistant. I quit doing that because my passion, massage therapy, was pulling heavily on my heart and I was at a point in my life that I needed to follow my heart.
