Becoming a massage therapist was never really something I thought about being as a child. At the young age of about 5, my grandmother would ask me to rub her shoulders. With no clue of what I was doing, I would rub my grandmother's shoulders and she would always tell me how her shoulders felt better afterwards.
As I got older and graduated from high school, I went to college to pursue a career in nursing. In the process of getting my basic classes done, I had a daughter that six weeks after being born had special health needs. I would rub her like I did my grandmother's shoulder as a child and it seemed to comfort her. Her doctors would always tell me to massage her, but I didn't really know how. That's when I had the brilliant idea to go to school for massage therapy.
I attended the Texas Center for Massage Therapy- Dallas campus in Richardson, TX in October 2012. I learned a variety of modalities such as, Swedish, Deep Tissue, Reflexology, Sports Massage, etc. A month before graduation, I passed the MBLEx licensure exam to become a Licensed Massage Therapist. I graduated from my program in October 2013. After graduation, I worked at a chiropractor's office for eight months. In June 2018, I decided to step out on faith & leave my part-time massage therapist/esthetician position at Massage Envy to fully operate my business. I'm also a graduate from Aveda Institute-Dallas for esthiology & have been a licensed esthetician since 2016. What I love most about being a massage therapist & esthetician is that I get to help others physically & mentally, while relieving their stress and enhancing their beauty. To know that I can help someone else feel better physically and mentally is the best feeling ever. I love what I do!
