It is my intention to give a great personal massage with all my clients whether it is a Swedish, Deep Tissue, or Sports Massage. Knowing the human body heals best when relaxed, I often begin my sessions with Relaxation (Swedish) Massage to induce the body's innate relaxation response. Then gradually Deep Tissue techniques are applied and therapeutic edges are gently approached for adjusting chronically shortened muscles, breaking-up fibrous muscle adhesions and enhancing the range of motion in the major joints of the body.
I believe that beyond making you feel good research has demonstrated that massage releases muscle tension, shortens the healing time of an injury, allows more nutrients and oxygen to reach the body's cellular tissue. Receiving a massage can also helps release endorphins (the body's natural painkillers), demonstrated from research by the Touch Research Institute and that massage therapy increases natural killer cells (enhancing the immune system's functioning).
Therefore, Massage is more of a way of maintaining the health of the body and not a luxury.
