What is a medical massage?

Medical massage is a massage focused on addressing a specific issue(s) in the soft tissue. The goal is for lasting healing results. It starts with an assessment to identify what area(s) need to be worked on and in what order. Multiple techniques are used during a session based on what is found in the tissue. It is called medical because it is used to address specific issues, the session is based off assessment(s) to monitor progress, and uses techniques that have been proven to achieve lasting results.

Who is it for?

What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)?

MLD is very light bodywork specifically targeting the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is the bodies' filter system. Over time it can get backed up or overloaded which then causes lymphedema, autoimmune problems, or many other issues. Common reasons for MLD are to boost the immune system; lymphedema; sinusitis; allergies; recovery from fractures, hematomas/bruises, dislocations, torn muscles; tendonitis; tennis elbow/Golfer's arm; eczema; alopecia; rosacea; preparation for and recovery from surgery.

Do you use oil?

Not usually, most of my work is done without oil to address specific areas. Only occasionally do I use it depending on what work is being done.
