The myofascia is a three dimensional web of connective tissue that surrounds every muscle, bone, organ, and cell of the body. Generally overlooked by Western medical paradigm, the myofascial system has recently become the subject of much research and debate. It is both an information communication pathway, similar to the network of nerves, as well as a source of structural integrity. In its healthy state myofascia is extremely strong (tensile strengths of 2000lb/sq inch) as well as flexible.
The constant force of gravity, along with daily stress and/or past injuries, causes the myofascia to shorten and tighten. This puts enormous pressure on pain sensitive structures, leading to chronic discomfort, pain, stiffness, and fatigue.
When your physical posture becomes more aligned with the force of gravity, you will experience more energy and a greater sense of ease in your daily life. As tension decreases and holding patterns release, many symptoms naturally fade away. After a single session most people will experience lasting changes, however depending on the severity of your condition several sessions may be necessary to fully address the problem.
