I obtained my first massage therapy degree in 1984 from the National Holistic Institute in Oakland, California. After graduating I practiced in the Bay Area for 11 years before moving to Ashland, Oregon in 1995. At that point I took a 22 year hiatus from professional practice to focus on building a business with my husband and starting a family. In 2017 I went back to school to update my education and obtain the required number of educational hours required by Oregon Board of Massage Therapy. In 2018 I graduated from the Massage Therapy program with honors from Rogue Community College and obtained my Oregon Massage Therapy license.
My work is grounded in Swedish Massage (the long flowing strokes and muscle kneading that most people associate with massage) and incorporates elements of myofascial release, reiki, trigger point therapy, craniosacral and deep tissue - depending on what is called for on an individual basis. If needed I can include hot stones and cupping to work with muscles that are very tight and constricted.
My work overall is gentle yet firm. My personal belief is that the body responds in the long term to being gently nurtured rather than forced into relaxation. All of my sessions include the use of the BioMat for deeper relaxation and health promotion at no extra charge.
In my practice, I help individuals dealing with a variety of issues including but not limited to: chronic pain, injury, fibromyalgia, headache, anxiety, post-operative pain and chronic stress. Also, pre and post-natal massage for the mother-to-be and new mother.
