I have been in practice since 2002 and am a graduate of the Sutherland-Chan School & Teaching Clinic. I have since studied many forms of massage and bodywork and combine Swedish massage, rhythmic and joint mobilizations, hydrotherapy, orthopaedic testing and self-care exercises to help my patients get the most out of our time together. I’ve also been doing hot yoga since massage school and I love it so you may hear me recommending specific poses from time to time.
I have worked in a variety of settings including gyms and multi-disciplinary clinics. I also spent several years as a teacher and clinical supervisor and try to educate as well as treat. I have also been a doula and infant massage instructor, having received special training in pre-natal and post-natal massage as well as infant massage.
In many ways, I feel that my approach is like that of a detective. I use observation, orthopaedic testing and detailed questions to try and get to the root of what brings my patients to my door rather than simply addressing what I see and feel on the massage table. I then tailor my treatments based on what I feel my patients need but also what they ask for.
My goal is to create a balance between the two and bring about outcomes that are not only effective but long-lasting. I endeavour to do this through an evidence-informed approach, targeted education and mutual collaboration. I think of it as a partnership where we work together to actively create the best result possible.
