AS A RESULT OF EXTENSIVE MEDICAL TREATMENT AT THE NATIONWIDE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL IN COLUMBUS, OHIO, ADAM KNEW HE WANTED TO HELP PEOPLE BY WORKING IN THE HEALTHCARE FIELD. IN HIGH SCHOOL, HE DECIDED TO STUDY PHARMACY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO. IN HIS FIRST YEAR, HOWEVER, ADAM DECIDED TO PURSUE A CAREER THAT WOULD HELP PEOPLE ACHIEVE A PATH TO HEALTH AND WELLNESS IN A MORE NATURAL WAY, WHICH LED HIM TO MERCY COLLEGE OF OHIO TO EARN AN ASSOCIATE’S DEGREE OF SCIENCE IN THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE IN MAY 2007.
For two years at Mercy College, Adam learned traditional and progressive techniques of bodywork, including: Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone, chair, pregnancy massage as well as such therapies as healing touch, neuromuscular, reflexology, trigger point, craniosacral (CST), lymphatic drainage, shiatsu, myofascial release (MFR), and acupressure.
In June of 2007, Adam was licensed by The Ohio State Medical Board to practice therapeutic massage and soon opened a practice in rural Northwest Ohio. Over a four-year-period, Adam operated his own business that eventually moved to Marion, Ohio, where he provided medical massage for workers’ compensation patients in the Physical Therapy Department at the Smith Clinic in Marion. There Adam became interested in Physical Therapy, so he enrolled in the PTA program at Marion Technical College in 2011. At the same time, Adam decided to simplify his professional life and went to work at a massage franchise. Over the next two years at Massage Envy in Powell, Ohio, Adam was a full time student, earning by 2013 another Associate’s Degree of Applied Science in PTA. Over the course of his education, Adam logged almost 2,500 hours of massage to help his clients achieve better health and wellness.
In July of 2013, Adam passed the State Board exam and was licensed to practice as a PTA in the state of Ohio. From February 24th, 2014 to May 2016 Adam worked as a PTA for Mid-American Therapy at Wyandot Memorial Hospital. On May 4, 2016, he became the director of the newly opened Therapeutic Massage Department at the hospital. Adam served as the director of the massage department along with his PTA duties until April 12th, 2018. Currently Adam is working full-time as an LMT. Since July 2015 Adam has become certified in IASTM(Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization), Kinesio Taping with Rocktape USA, SOMA cupping and most importantly Erik Dalton’s Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques and is pursuing masters-level certification in this innovative approach to medical massage.
