In Tarot, "The Moon" card represents intuition and the need to seek the truth beneath the surface. In a similar way, true healing can occur through therapeutic bodywork only if the therapist is intuitive and takes a intentionally holistic approach. The pain and discomfort that leads you to seek massage therapy is often just the surface of a well that runs quite deep.
The bodywork therapist must take the time to discover the truth beneath the surface, or the result of the session will not be long lasting and real healing will not take place. I have always felt a deep connection to the moon. It is a significant player in my personal philosophy and spiritual life and I feel that it is representative of my bodywork style in this way.
Beings have honored the moon and considered her to be sacred from the beginning of time. I believe that the body is sacred, as well. It is the personal vessel through which we experience the world. The more we are able to integrative the mind and spirit with this body, the greater our capacity to be fully present will be. We can then fully experience the things around us through our senses, practice mindfulness, and truly live in the present moment.
