Complementary and alternative therapies have been a way of life for me for as long as I can remember. Days before my second birthday, my parents and I boarded an airplane to New South Wales, Australia, where I was introduced to several natural, native remedies like eucalyptus and tea tree essential oils and pawpaw salve – all of which I still can’t live without. Life events brought my family back to Minnesota, but holistic medicine remained a consistent part of my life. I pursued a degree in nursing, despite my friends warning me that I would struggle due to my belief in complementary and alternative modalities. My nursing career validated that there is room for both western medicine and holistic therapies in this world. In fact, they complement each other well.
During my nursing career I have had the opportunity to watch the push for preventative medicine open doors to complementary and alternative healing modalities. This increased receptiveness inspired me to learn more. I received attunements in Reiki I and II and began practicing Reiki as a hobby, working on family, friends and occasionally pets. In 2014, I witnessed my boyfriend take his life. I looked to western medicine for numbing medications to deal with this trauma. Unwanted side effects encouraged me to return to my roots, taking a holistic approach to grief management. I completed the final level of Reiki training and my hobby matured into a passion.
Reiki was a major component in my emotional healing. I want to offer this experience to anyone who feels he or she needs it. I am trained in Usui and crystal Reiki. I also offer Raindrop Technique and crystal work. I look forward to assisting you with your wellness needs.
Love and healing prayers,
Shannon
