While living in New Port
Ritchey, Florida in 2004 I stumbled upon Bene's International School of Massage
not far from my house. Having a bit of basic knowledge as to what therapeutic massage
was, I decided to go in and look into what the program offered. Needless to say
10 minutes later I was signing a $10,000 contract and decided then and there
that I was going to become a Massage Therapist. From the beginning it just felt
right. Back then I was recently widowed and found that massage therapy healed
my broken heart. Here we are 11 years later and honestly I still love the work
that I do. After graduating from Bene's International School of Massage in
2004, I went on to become Nationally Certified as a Licensed Massage Therapist
by the NCBTMB National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.
I currently hold a Massachusetts Therapeutic Massage License and have been
actively practicing Massage Therapy professionally since 2005. In early 2013 I found
myself wanting to do more. This time I found Elizabeth Grady school of
Aesthetics in Medford, MA. Again it only took a short 10 minutes to realize
that this too was what I wanted to do. By October of 2013 I had graduated and
become a Massachusetts Licensed Aesthetician. It was just a good fit for me. Over the last 10 years I have worked as a Massage Therapist in both a clinical hospital setting as well as for a couple of the local massage franchises. I have built a strong and loyal client base that keeps me busy. Recently I decided that I no longer wanted to work with the "membership required" businesses. Massage isn't a requirement it is a choice. Far too often I would see a perspective client who would leave my table relaxed and stress free. Upon checking out at the front desk, the sales associates would pitch the membership contract deal before the client even had time to adjust their eyes to the light. Of course I would love to see every client return month after month as a benefit to their overall health. Massage has so much to offer a person with regard to their personal well being. I simply just don't believe that you should be bullied or convinced to sign a membership contract that commits you to returning monthly. Life happens enjoy it and then come see me when you need me. You can find me at my new massage studio: Blue Stone Massage and Skin Care at 228 Central St. Saugus, MA 01906.
At the present time I am
seeking a Professional Reiki program so that I can add it to my service menu. I
am finding that I am happiest when I am helping others to feel good about themselves.
I know my limits and realize that though I will never heal anyone, at the very
least I can honestly make them feel better simply with the touch of my caring hands. Thanks for taking the time to read about me. Deborah Garoufalis, LMT
