THAI YOGA MASSAGE
Originating from Thailand, Thai Massage is an ancient meditative, flowing, and rhythmic massage which combines massage techniques with yoga-like stretching. This modality works to realign postural imbalances, reduce pain, and increase flexibility. The treatment is performed fully clothed, so we ask for you to wear movement oriented clothing (ie: sweat/yoga pants, T-Shirt)
GUA-SHA MASSAGE
Gua-Sha is an ancient Asian bodywork treatment for healing of chronic pain. It is especially effective back & neck pain, restoring range of motion, and post injury/surgery recovery; by releasing tight fascia, breaking down scar tissue & adhesions, degranulates mast cells (which accumulate in injured tissue), and promotes pain reduction and healing of chronically tight or injured tissues.
Although Gua-Sha is effective for reducing both long and short term muscular pain, you’ll want to be prepared; Gua-Sha produces mild to generous reddening (petechia) which can last for up to 4-6 days. This is caused by the smooth, rounded edge of the Gua-Sha tool flushing the grainy, sand-like texture of the mast cells; producing what is known as “Sha”. This reaction only occurs in areas where chronic muscular tension and injury are present. The “Sha” signals the body to revisit the longstanding tension and injury from a relaxed place, allowing for optimal healing.
SWEDISH MASSAGE
Swedish massage is a gentle, rhythmic massage which relaxes soft body tissue, alleviates stress and tension and contributes to a sense of overall well-being. It is generally lighter in touch and often includes long flowing strokes to assist with deep relaxation. While the therapist is outside the room, the client undresses and lies on a massage table, underneath sheets. During this massage, the therapist will use secure draping procedures, uncovering only the area being worked; this ensures client modesty, comfort and warmth.
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
Deep Tissue massage primarily focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. The techniques used in this modality are performed slowly and pressure is deeper to ensure concentration in areas of tension. This therapy is ideal for postural realignment, chronic tension or pain, or for those who have previously experienced and enjoy deeper massage. . While the therapist is outside the room, the client undresses and lies on a massage table, underneath sheets. The therapist will use secure draping procedures, uncovering only the area being worked; this ensures client modesty, comfort and warmth.
CUPPING
Cupping is a popular and effective treatment within Traditional Chinese Medicine. In many ways, Cupping is the inverse of a typical massage, as it lifts the muscle, fascia and skin. In Cupping Massage, special suction cups are placed on the client’s back. The therapist uses a pump to suction the air out of each cup and, to draw the client’s muscle up into the cup. The massage of your choice is performed on the lower body while the cups are utilized to soften the musculature of the back. After about 20 minutes the cups are removed and the massage is performed on the back. Cupping Massage is believed to relieve tight muscles, restore skin and muscle tone, boost the immune system and to bring fresh blood, lymph and qi to the affected area of the client’s body. Please be aware that cupping leaves round marks on the back, which can last up to 7 days.
HOT STONE
Involves placing warmed stones on specific areas of the body. Used along with other massage techniques, hot stones soothe and relax as they transmit heat deep into the body.
