In my North Wilmington, DE studio we integrate Zen Shiatsu Bodywork, Sound Healing, and Manual Lymphatic Drainage, to bring about harmony within your body, mind, and soul. This enables individuals to understand how emotions can materialize as physical pain and dis-ease. Our unique therapeutic approach promotes profound healing and enhances mental clarity.
This bodywork is a highly refined and expansive form of acupressure massage that combines the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine with Japan's ancient healing techniques. The body's energy, known as qi, chi, or KI, flows through specific pathways called meridians, and that maintaining a state of harmony is essential for good health.
By incorporating sound healing and lymphatic flow into Shiatsu, we are able to produce a restorative therapy. Facilitating you to find moments of tranquility and eventually achieve a consistent state of peacefulness in your mind, body, and soul. This, to me, is the ultimate form of healing.
Elizabeth obtained her Zen Shiatsu certification in 2003 from the International School of Shiatsu and started her own practice. Elizabeth treats all ages and a significant portion of her practice is dedicated to treating the family unit, especially women during and after pregnancy who experience discomfort and desire to refocus energy on their personal body awareness and balance.
What is Shiatsu?
-Japanese bodywork that incorporates acupressure, stretching, gentle rhythmic rocking, and joint rotation
-works along the same energetic meridian system as an acupuncturist, the difference is Shiatsu utilizes thumb and palm pressure to activate the energy rather than a needle
-different than traditional massage because it goes beyond the muscles and tendons— tapping into the energy within us which is often out of balance
-done fully clothed
What does Shiatsu do for my body?
-stimulates parasympathetic nervous system (your body’s relaxation response center) so your body can begin to heal and restore itself
-aligns your body, mind, spirit
-supports healthy spine
-supports hormone balance
-reduces anxiety with consecutive treatments
-supports clients working through grief
-increases flexibility
-supports digestion and circulation
-offers greater sense of peace and calm
What can I expect during a session?
-upon arrival, briefly discuss any physical and/or emotional stress
-Hara massage and assessment (in Japanese culture the Hara is the abdomen, understood to house all of the emotions and energetic bodies)
-each treatment is different and tailored to the needs of your body and energy
-during stretches I will prompt you to breathe
