Hello again! Let me tell you a bit more about myself, including my professional schooling and philosophy about massage. I am a Connecticut licensed massage therapist and graduated from the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy (CCMT) in 2014. Since my graduation, I have taken many continuing education courses in an effort to provide the best service possible to my clients. After graduation, I went on to be a teaching assistant at CCMT, and then an instructor, until the school changed hands and moved to another location at the end of 2018. I am a member of the American Massage Therapy Association, whose aim is to keep massage therapists up to date on relevant education and to provide information about massage to the public. My philosophy is that massage does not need to be painful in order to be effective. I also believe that each client has different needs and that even the same client's needs can vary from day to day. Because of this, I do a brief intake at every appointment to assess the goals for the session. Then, in order to customize each client’s massage, I use a variety of techniques from different massage styles. In general, I rarely ever use just one style of bodywork when I perform a massage for that reason. I am also happy to provide massage with my client fully clothed so that those mobility issues or concerns about undressing can still receive the benefits of massage. I am also a Manual Lymphatic Drainage(MLD) practitioner. This modality can be used for a host of health concerns, as well as for general health. If you are interested in learning more, see MLD under services or contact me directly. While the cornerstones of my practice are anxiety/stress reduction and pain management, my focus also includes the use of massage as a compliment to mental health care and LGBTQ health concerns. For example, I have training in massage for voice & speech and scar tissue work, as well as some knowledge about mental health through both continuing education and my current college course studies. If you have further questions about my work in these areas and whether or not I would be a good fit for you, please feel free to reach out before booking. In addition to massage, I am also a mother, grandmother and student. I'm currently studying ceramics and psychology at the college level, with the hope to continue my education with a master's program in art therapy at some point in the future. It is my belief that it is never to late to learn more.
Go on, be a good friend and share MassageBook with them. They'll love you for it.
