We employ gentle yet powerful bodywork techniques to help you access a greater sense of joy and ease in your body. If you are looking for relief from chronic pain, or to get back to the physical activities you love without painkillers, injections, or multiple trips to the doctor, we're here to help. Myofascial Release helps with pain in the hips, back, neck, and shoulders, headaches, jaw pain or teeth grinding, abdominal pain and digestive issues, SI joint dysfunction, sciatica, carpal tunnel, depression, anxiety, and other difficult conditions. Myofascial Release reduces inflammation and helps manage stress, and can bring immediate and lasting relief to those experiencing chronic pain or discomfort. It also can help athletes improve performance by easing tension and increasing effective range of motion, facilitating effective whole-body movement and speeding up recovery time.
Collin is a therapist trained in the John Barnes Myofascial Release Approach, which is a unique manual therapy modality that centers around long-sustained holds that provide just the right amount of pressure to achieve a deep release without risk of damaging the tissue. Collin employs the sensitivity and intentionality of touch he has built up over a decade of practicing Yang-Style Tai Chi Chuan to bring a unique level of responsive awareness to his treatments. He will always bring his utmost care to assessing his patient's body as it comes to his table on that day, and applying the most appropriate techniques to bring relief from pain and facilitate the natural healing mechanisms of your body, and help you reach your health and fitness goals.
Your Session:
- You will receive 60 minutes of personalized Myofascial Release Bodywork. First-time clients will receive an additional 30 minutes to ensure ample time for postural assessment, discussing your issues and goals, and self-care instructions.
- Please do not apply any lotions or creams to your skin before treatment! These lubricating fluids hinder the therapist from achieving the necessary traction with your skin in order to engage myofascial restrictions underneath.
- Please wear appropriate clothing for treatment. You will remain clothed to your comfort level during your treatment. Myofascial Release is best performed on bare skin to provide traction, therefore minimal or loose-fitting clothing is ideal. Recommended attire is athletic shorts for men, and a sports bra, swim-suit top, or loose-fitting shirt and shorts for women.
- Be prepared to let go, take off the breaks, and enjoy the sense of deep freedom that comes with Myofascial Release treatment! You are encouraged to fully embrace, feel, and express any aspects of the experience that may arise for you including unconscious movement, shivers, shakes, sensations, vocalizations, or emotions of any kind. Release your mind and body into the experience, and allow the process to take whatever form is natural to you in that moment. The treatment room is a safe, judgement-free space.
- Hydration is important. Most massage therapists will remind you to drink water after a bodywork session, but the truth is that it's more important for you to drink water or eat a juicy piece of fruit before your treatment! This will maximize the benefit to your tissues, allowing the most hydration to be delivered to your tissues, restoring the ability of the tissue to stretch and glide with movement.
