IF YOU ARE A FIRST-TIME CLIENT, PLEASE READ BEFORE SCHEDULING!
If you book through this website, I will assume you have read this information; you are thus responsible for knowing what kind of work I do, and for adhering to all policies and practices outlined below. If you have questions about anything here, please do contact me.
UPDATE: Going forward, all 60-min sessions booked will need to be confirmed by me. Absolutely feel free to schedule a 1-hr session, but please do so knowing that if it lands at an awkward time that leaves a chunk of unusable space in my workday, I will ask if you are able to adjust your timing. I'm automatically notified when someone books an appointment, so if you schedule during business hours and we need to adjust your time, I will respond as soon as I can on the same day; if you schedule during off-hours, you will hear from me at the beginning of my next business day. Thank you for your understanding!
ABOUT MY WORK
I specialize in generalized deep tissue massage, with elements of myofascial release and neuromuscular therapy. My style leans toward the slower and more meditative, listening to the body and giving you space to release tension in your own time. I work firmly, with a mix of specificity and breadth, holding trigger points to release those tight spots and relieve referred pain, applying cross-fiber fiction to break up adhesion and improve muscle function, using PNF stretches/METs to improve joint range of motion, and also using shaking, rocking, and long, integrating strokes to lengthen and flush the tissue and soothe the nervous system.
MY SERVICES
90-Minute Massage: This is my most popular service! Ninety minutes is a lovely amount of time to fully relax into a whole-body session, with some extra focus on one particular area, if needed. It also works very well for comprehensive/deep-focus work on one to two specific issues.
120-Minute Massage: This service
makes for a very satisfying full-body session, allowing ample time for
some additional focus on a couple of areas. Or, if you have multiple
areas calling for particular attention, consider taking a full two hours
to receive the focused work your body needs. As this session length is
growing taxing on my own body, it is no longer freely available online, but can
be booked through me personally, at my own discretion.
90-Minute Dynamic Body Balancing + Massage: Dynamic Body Balancing (DBB) is related to craniosacral modalities, using craniosacral and myofascial unwinding techniques to work with the nervous system and help the fascial system to reset and rebalance, top to bottom, front to back, side to side. In DBB, the practitioner gently initiates movement in the client's body, and facilitates and supports whatever movement the client feels they want to make until the body is ready to stop, which allows any ingrained dysfunctional patterns to surface and be released.
DBB is an excellent complement to bodywork. Some techniques can be performed during a massage session, but ideally DBB is done beforehand, both because with clothes on draping and modesty are not an issue, and also because downregulating the nervous system helps to prepare the body to truly receive and respond to massage. The ratio of DBB to bodywork will be largely dependent on how much time your body requires for unwinding, but can be somewhat tailored to your preferences.
I have completed Dynamic Body Balancing Levels 1 and 3, which means I have training in unwinding the arms, legs, spine, and sacrum, and balancing the uterus and its related ligaments. (The latter helps to facilitate an easier pregnancy and delivery, and/or can be used to relieve pelvic, spinal, and sacral distortions created during pregnancy and labor.)
Nota Bene: If we've never worked together before, please do fill out the intake form you receive, so that I have an idea of how best to help you. Also, if you are coming in after a recent injury or surgery, if you are pregnant, or if you otherwise require anything specific in the way of bolstering/support in order to be comfortable on the table, please let me know in the "Notes" section when you book your session.
A FEW OTHER NOTES
Business Hours and Contact Info: My working hours are: Thursday through Monday: 8:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. All massage sessions and business communications take place within these hours. (I may, as necessary, notify my cancellation list on a Wednesday of a new Thursday availability, but otherwise I am off the clock outside business hours.) You are always welcome to reach out at any time, just be aware that I won't see any messages until I am back "in office."
My available avenues of business contact are:
a) My phone number (720) 417-5426
b) My email address at lifeinbalance.mt@gmail.com
c) MassageBook's messaging feature
Please only contact me through these channels; any other messages will not receive a response.
Session Length: No 50-minute hours here! My sessions are a full 60, 90, or 120 minutes on the table. I generally allow around 5-7 minutes for intake, which consequently means that your hands-on time will actually end several minutes after the stated end time. E.g., for a 60-minute session starting at 12:00 p.m., your time on the table will actually end somewhere around 1:05 p.m. Please allow for this, plus additional time for a brief outtake and payment, in your scheduling, so you don't have to rush on your way out!
Payment: I can accept cash, check, card, or Venmo.
Cancellation/No-Call, No-Show: I
have a 24-hour cancellation policy. No-showing or cancelling less than 24 hours before your session will result in a full-price charge.
Illness: Illness is the exception to the cancellation policy. If you realize within 24 hours of your session* that you are ill, or actively contagious in some other way, PLEASE CANCEL YOUR SESSION. I will not charge you. Please do not come in within 72 hours of illness onset OR if you are still testing positive for Covid. If you are coming in post-illness, I may, at my discretion, ask you to wear a mask.
If you don't have a mask, I am happy to provide one for you, as this is an issue of public health and I share a suite with many other practitioners who all have clients of their own. Neither do I want to get sick--if I can't work, I can't earn my living. If you come in when you are sick, or refuse to wear a mask when asked, I will send you home and you will be charged for the session.
*This is only an exception if you realize you're sick after it's too late to cancel without charge. If you've known you're sick for several days and still do not give appropriate notice, I will charge for the session. This policy also applies to other conditions for which massage would be contraindicated (e.g., painful rashes or other skin conditions).
