Welcome! I'm so glad you're here. I am a licensed massage therapist and owner of Penn Valley Therapeutic Massage. My family has been utilizing holistic healing methods for decades, seeking out professional healers and bodyworkers. I was fortunate to have been extensively trained, at such a young age, in multiple modalities of healing such as massage, acupuncture, chiropractic, energy work, pilates, yoga, aquatic therapy, and more. In 1995, my mother suffered a broken neck during a car accident as we were driving home from a week-long Aikido martial art camp we’d attended together since I was 5. Our lives changed in an instant. Once my mother was out of in the hospital, we began our own home therapies, bypassing western medicine’s diagnoses of “no movement below the shoulders,”. I became her nurse, and physical therapist when I was a high school sophomore. We began inventing and experimenting with our own therapies until I went away to college. Today, my mother walks on water and on land. She has crushed her diagnosis, despite living 99% of the time in a wheelchair. I continue to partnership with her as a part of her plan for health and wellbeing. I, myself, have experienced recurring low back, and neck and shoulder pain as a result of that car accident. As a result, I have sought wonderful massage therapists and chiropractors to assist in my healing, and continue to do so. In 1997, I attended Humboldt State University in pursuit of a degree in Liberal Studies, focused in Sociology, and Cultural and Physical Geography. Then from 2004-2009, I managed a warm water Aquatic Therapy pool in Palo Alto, California, working with physically and developmentally “differently-abled” adults and children. In 2006, I became certified in Aquatic Therapy for Pain Management. In 2012, I graduated with honors from National Holistic Institute of Massage Therapy (NHI), with a degree in Massage Therapy and Health Education. I have further certification in sports massage, hot stone massage, and have been a certified AromaTouch Practitioner since 2015, which is a clinical approach to essential oil application. I humbly received a "Best of 2016" Award for best massage therapist from Thumbtack.com. In October of 2021, I opened my business, Penn Valley Therapeutic Massage. I specialize in the relief of chronic pain: low back, neck and shoulders, plantar fasciitis, fibromyalgia, arthritis, headaches, and more. I deeply enjoy working in partnership with my clients to help them live their lives with less pain. I work with the mobility challenged population as well. People in wheelchairs are welcome on my table as my facility is very accessible, and I am very adaptable to my client’s needs. My studio is a safe space for all who enter, not matter your gender association, age, race or physicality. I look forward to meeting you.
Go on, be a good friend and share MassageBook with them. They'll love you for it.
