What is Lymphatic Drainage?

What is your Lymphatic system?
You might’ve heard of your lymphatic system, maybe you’ve gone to the doctor while ill and found out that your lymph nodes in your throat were swollen. Well, that is because your lymphatic system was kicked into overdrive to fight your illness.
Your lymphatic system is the waste management department of your body. It is a series of vessels that lead to your lymph nodes throughout your whole body. the arterial side of your circulatory system carries nutrient rich blood to your loose connective tissue where your cells use what they need. Any excess of vitamins, minerals, hormones, proteins, small chain fats, as well as metabolic waste is processed in your lymph nodes. In each lymph node, there are special germinal cells that tell your immune cells where to go and what pathogen or antigen to fight. In summary, if you have a healthy lymphatic system then you have a healthy immune system.
How to keep a healthy lymphatic system?
Unlike your circulatory system the lymphatic system does not have a pump, The fluid moves via muscle contraction and deep breathing. So daily exercise and deep breathing is essential to a healthy lymphatic system. If movement is limited then a MLD treatment is always helpful.
When do we need a treatment?
A treatment is necessary when your lymphatic system is overwhelmed or suppressed. Any injury or trauma, illness or surgery pre-or post op
