Aloha! My name is Melissa Obra. I originate from the Big Island of Hawaii. E Ala E means "to call forth; to awaken." I believe the body has an innate desire to heal itself when injured or hurting. I facilitate that process by taking my time, listening to your body, following the tension to its source, and then releasing it. I incorporate multiple modalities into each massage session, with a focus on Deep Tissue and Trigger Point release for effective pain relief. I also utilize essential oils in every massage for the added healing benefits these age-old remedies provide. Growing up in Hawaii, I lived in a culture that advocated compassion, integrity, and generosity among people. Out of that grew my love for helping others. My journey in massage began when I was a child working on my parents' sore spots. As I grew up, I was the one friends and family came to for relief from headaches, neck pain, and back pain. My formal massage training began with Deal Massage School in Hilo, HI. My instructor taught me the importance of approaching each massage with a clinical focus to bring about long-term healing. It was there that I developed my passion for the Deep Tissue and Trigger Point modalities. Upon licensing I opened my own massage establishment and worked in conjunction with a respected chiropractor in the community, providing relief from pain and injuries for my clients as well as her patients. In 2016 I became certified in the AromaTouch Technique a system of layering selected oils for individual and combined health benefits. These benefits include grounding, relaxation, cleansing, soothing, increased circulation, relief of tension, and rejuvenation. After moving to Tucson in 2019 I chose to continue my massage education at Carrington College, graduating at the top of my class. While there, I furthered my pursuit of knowledge in the Deep Tissue and Trigger Point techniques. I also learned Myofascial Release techniques, Sports Massage, and Chair Massage. I studied Eastern modalities ranging from Shiatsu to Thai massage, Anatomy and Physiology, Kinesiology, and Pathologies as related to massage. Everything I've learned has contributed to my growth as a massage therapist. ***** NO SAME-DAY SCHEDULING *****
