Sanctum Bodyworks

Therapeutic Ashiatsu and Subtle Energy Therapies

Welcome to Sanctum Bodyworks

Sanctum Bodyworks is a space created for slowing down, softening, and reconnecting with yourself. Here, massage isn’t just about loosening muscles — it’s about restoring balance to both body and mind, and giving your nervous system the chance to truly reset.

I specialize in Ashiatsu barefoot massage, a style known for its broad, steady pressure that feels grounding and deeply soothing to the nervous system. Alongside Ashiatsu, your session may also draw from tools like cupping, gua sha, craniosacral techniques, Reiki, or sound therapy — always chosen thoughtfully to support you in the moment.

Every appointment is designed to meet you where you are, with clients often seeking focus on any of these four key areas:

  • Nervous system regulation — calming stress and supporting resilience
  • Postural balance — helping your body find ease in how it carries itself
  • Athletic performance — keeping you strong and mobile for the activities you love
  • Mobility and freedom of movement — restoring fluidity so daily life feels less restricted

Whether you come in to reset, rebalance, or recharge, each session is crafted to help your whole system work in harmony.

To support your self-care journey beyond the treatment room, Sanctum strives to collaborate with a community of movement and wellness professionals in Bend, OR who share the same goal: helping you move through life with more ease, resilience, and connection.

Sanctum Bodyworks is located inside Bend Pilates on Century Drive.

What is Ashiatsu?

Ashiatsu Bar Therapy is a style of barefoot massage developed in 1999 by Ruthie Hardee, LMT. She created this modality to deliver deeper, therapeutic pressure without putting strain on her own body. Inspired by traditional barefoot massage techniques she encountered while traveling as a child, Ruthie blended these global influences into a safe, structured, and effective massage style for modern clinical settings.

The name comes from Japanese: Ashi means foot or leg, and Atsu means pressure. While the massage modality Shiatsu translates to "finger pressure" in Japanese, Ashiatsu means "foot pressure."

It’s important to note that while the term Ashiatsu can also describe other traditional Japanese modalities, Ashiatsu Bar Therapy is a distinct, Western adaptation commonly practiced in the United States today. It’s recognized for its broad, consistent pressure and deeply therapeutic effects, delivered with the aid of overhead bars for balance and control.

What I love about Ashiatsu Bar Therapy

One of the things I love most about Ashiatsu is how it benefits both the client and the practitioner. The joints of the ankle and foot are naturally designed to support the weight and force of a human body under gravity, which allows me to deliver deep, therapeutic pressure without straining my own body.

For clients, this deeper pressure is applied through the broad, rounded surfaces of the foot, creating a sensation that’s firm, steady, and typically far more comfortable for the nervous system than the sharper contact of knuckles, fingers, or elbows. This means the work can reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia without triggering pain or defensive tension, allowing your body to truly relax, soften, and release held patterns of stress.

This thoughtful combination of depth, comfort, and nervous system regulation is why Ashiatsu is such a powerful and restorative experience — and one of my favorite tools to support long-lasting, meaningful change in the body.

About Me

Hi, I’m Jordan Swaggerty — a massage therapist in Bend, OR, movement nerd, and firm believer that your body deserves to feel safe, supported, and free to move through life with ease.

My path to massage therapy began in a deeply personal way: I had open-heart surgery as a teenager, which gave me profound respect for both the resilience and the vulnerability of the human body. In exploring life with a newly efficient heart, I challenged myself to take at least one physical activity course per term in college while becoming licensed as an EMT. That curiosity soon expanded into Exercise Science and wellness courses because I had to understand more about what I was experiencing. This awe for the body’s potential is what eventually led me to the world of bodywork.

For me, massage isn’t just a service — it’s a way of helping people reconnect with their bodies as partners, not problems.

In my practice, Sanctum Bodyworks, I specialize in Ashiatsu barefoot massage in Bend, Oregon — a modality that allows me to deliver deep, consistent pressure in a way that feels grounding, flowing, and soothing to the nervous system. Clients often describe leaving their session with a sense of profound release and renewal.

I especially love working with:

  • Active people who want to stay strong, mobile, and engaged in the activities they love for years to come.
  • Those carrying chronic tension or pain who need a reset for their nervous system as much as their muscles.
  • Folks who don’t always feel at home in traditional wellness spaces — whether because of body size, identity, or past experiences.

What makes my approach unique is the way I blend the clinical and the intuitive. I bring my background in anatomy and movement science together with an appreciation for how breath, energy, and presence affect the body. Every session is tailored — not just to release tight muscles, but to invite your whole system into balance.

At the heart of my work is this belief: your body is wise, and it already holds the capacity to heal. My role is simply to create the right conditions for it to remember.

What are Subtle Energy Therapies?

In addition to massage, Sanctum Bodyworks offers a selection of gentle, energetically focused therapies designed to support the body’s innate ability to heal, restore balance, and find peace. These intentional practices work alongside the physical body to calm the nervous system, regulate energy flow, and offer a sense of grounded ease.

Offerings include:

Reiki
A hands-on (or hands-off) energy healing practice that promotes relaxation, reduces stress, and supports the body’s natural healing processes. Reiki works by gently encouraging the free flow of energy throughout the body, helping release energetic blockages and ease emotional tension.

Sound Baths with Solfeggio Tuning Forks
This vibrational therapy uses specially tuned Solfeggio frequencies to bring harmony to the mind, body, and spirit. The frequencies are applied directly or in the air around the body, offering a deeply meditative experience that can quiet the mind, soothe the nervous system, and support energetic realignment.

Craniosacral Techniques
A gentle, hands-on modality focusing on the subtle rhythms of the craniosacral system (the membranes and fluids surrounding the brain and spinal cord). These quiet, listening-based techniques help release tension in the body’s deeper layers, support nervous system regulation, and cultivate profound stillness and ease.

Subtle Energy Therapies are wonderful as standalone sessions or as add-ons to bodywork. They’re especially supportive for clients navigating stress, emotional overwhelm, chronic pain, or anyone simply seeking stillness and restoration in a safe, compassionate space.

To support your experience, each appointment includes an additional 15 minutes to review your care plan, answer any questions, and ensure a relaxed, timely start and finish to your session.
