Warm, Grounded, and Unhurried Bodywork for Tired Nervous Systems
Hello! My name is Nathan Wootters ("Woozy", they/he), and I am a licensed massage therapist (LMT). For 3 years, I have practiced highly personalized, slow-paced massage in downtown Northampton, designed specifically for folks who need a safe, low-stress space to land.
I chose the name "Living Gift" because I believe your body is a gift to be treasured and cared for, not just a machine to be fixed. If you are neurodivergent, queer, a first-timer who feels a little nervous about massage, or someone who spends all of their energy holding space for everyone else – you are incredibly welcome here.
I bring a gentle, quiet, and deeply respectful energy to my work, focusing heavily on helping your nervous system co-regulate and find safety. That said, "gentle energy" doesn't necessarily mean light pressure, and I am more than happy to provide deep, firm physical work if that's what your muscles need.
How We Work Together:
- We Don’t Rush the Intake: Touch requires trust, and for new clients, our initial conversation might last 30 minutes or longer before you even get on the table. I also have many regular clients who often need to decompress and share before we get to work. This time is entirely free and is never taken out of your hands-on massage time. We talk, we listen, and we don't start until you feel completely ready.
- Mind-Body Care: My approach is physical, somatic, and practical, rooted in my own lived experience with chronic pain. I know firsthand how intimately physical pain – especially in the back, neck, and shoulders – is tied to stress. I focus on effective, relaxing physical techniques designed to help your nervous system step down from high alert, helping your brain and body communicate peacefully again.
- Highly Accommodating & Proactive: When you book your first appointment, I ask that you fill out your intake form at least 24 hours in advance. If you have a condition I haven't worked with before, or specific sensory sensitivities, I use that 24 hours to deeply research the safest, most supportive techniques for your specific body.
- A Space Tailored to You: From the temperature of the table to the music being played, everything in my room is adjustable to your sensory needs. If you want a 30-minute conversation before a silent session, that is perfect. If you are a long-term client who wants a 5-minute check-in and then straight to a session that's full of chit-chat, that is perfect too. (All options in between? Also perfect.)
My practice is located in a quiet, comfortable office building in downtown Northampton. I keep my rates accessible ($80/hour, with sliding-scale savings for longer sessions) because I believe the people who do the most important work in our community deserve to afford regular care.
If you’ve been looking for a gentle, non-judgmental space to help your body let go of stress, I would love to work with you.
