Pain is your frien-e-my. It is a warning signal to prevent further injury, but it need not become an unwelcome guest.

Hi, my name is Gary DeFilippo, LMT.  I have 22 years of experience bringing James Waslawski's Orthopedic Massage Treatments to Rochester NY pain sufferers because I have a heart for people and do not like to see them suffer, and I cringe when I hear about people succumb to invasive surgery, particularly because it does not always help.   While I truly believe that Orthopedic Massage can effectively treat most musculoskeletal problems or skeleton muscle disorders in a shorter period of time than some other treatments, with ZERO chance of making it worse I will add, I do hope that you give my treatments a good shot.  Many will go to a physical therapist for 10-15 treatments or a chiropractor for as many and pay expensive copays yet expect me to lay my hands upon them one time and "Hocus Cadabrah" and "Abra Caposis" (tiffany) they are healed.  You accepted it from the chiropractor and the physical therapist, so you have to accept that from me.  A repetitive stress injury happened over time, so your body will need a couple of treatments, not just one. A soft-tissue injury may have occurred quickly but your body heals over time.  If getting undressed is an issue, relax, most treatments can be done with gym wear on.  While it's true that traditional massage treatments are done with our clients undressed to their comfort level,  Orthopedic Massage treatments require your involvement with active and passive stretching where sheet covering is less preferential.  I love spandex leggings and SPANX. Not for me.  No one wants to see that. Your comfort and security are as important to me as your recovery. Bear in mind, Orthopedic Massage IS Deep Tissue Massage, and those Deep (layer) Tissue Muscles are the ones that cling to your bones. Its a matter of HOW those Deep Tissue Layers are reached that determines your comfort and the outcome.  An Orthopedic Deep Tissue Massage begins with the muscles that are causing the problem, NOT the muscles that are painfully impacted.

They said that it couldn't be done.

I had been working with a 60 something women who suffered a stroke and had muscle contractures effecting her left side. This made her daily activities difficult if not impossible. I would do weekly outcalls to her home. Together we were able to get her arm to fully extend and her hand extended almost as fully. Through physical therapy and Rehabilitative Massage, she was able to walk better and her back bothers her less. I was taught that massage would have little impact on contractured muscles but I am a poor learner. lol

I had a very good experience with Gary. He made me feel very comfortable and the Swedish massage was very good. I felt very relieved and he suggested some massage reliefs I could practice at home. I will be going back again for an orthopedic massage.

It was awesome! I have carpel tunnel and felt relief immediately. I'm looking forward to going back to help with other muscles that are tight.

Had my second appointment with Gary yesterday, and I must say his techniques are working! My left leg has been giving me pain and weakness for a while, is stronger and much less pain. Thank you so much.

Being my first time, I didn’t know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by the more “therapeutic” massage and I appreciated Gary’s explanation throughout the session. I have high hopes that I will soon be feeling better and moving my joints more freely.
