After all, it is the body\u2019s way of responding to cellular damage and is its way to begin the internal healing process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But inflammation is not a very comfortable state to be in and acute inflammation left unchecked <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/health\/chronic-inflammation\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">can become a major problem<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the minor acute cases \u2013 usually from exerting ourselves just a little harder than we should have (perhaps while trying to keep up with our kids) \u2013 evidence suggests that massage may reduce the inflammation of skeletal muscle damaged through exercise.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A study conducted by the Buck Institute for Research on Aging and\u00a0McMaster\u00a0University in Ontario found that at the cellular level, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amtamassage.org\/articles\/4\/eTouch\/detail\/2960\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">massage therapy may fight inflammation<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in a way similar to anti-inflammatory medications.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While some medical researchers have <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencebasedmedicine.org\/massage-therapy-decreases-inflammation\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">scoffed at the study\u2019s claims for affecting inflammation<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, they still acknowledged the benefits of massage therapy helping someone suffering from inflammation feel better \u2013 which is never a bad thing. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And for those dealing with chronic inflammation, stress and anxiety are known contributing factors, so regular massage can certainly <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amtamassage.org\/statement2.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">aid in reducing stress<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that leads to inflammation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/health\/chronic-inflammation\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">known remedies<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> include eating more omega-3 fatty acids that help dial down overeager white blood cells that respond and lead to inflammation, eating more fruits and vegetables that are chock-full of anti-inflammatory agents, and getting regular exercise (but not overdoing it to the point of creating more inflammation).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the best inflammation-fighting herbs out there is parsley. While you probably sprinkle this in your pasta sauce, here is a smoothie featuring parsley that not only tastes fabulous but also gives you a solid dose of this wonderfully healthy herb:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 cup crushed ice<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 cup fresh chopped pineapple<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00bd cup packed parsley (rough chop is fine)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 cup juice (orange, mango or apple)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 inch fresh ginger<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3 mint leaves<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mix all ingredients together in a blender until smooth and thick (1-2 minutes).
