That\u2019s why we spend hundreds (sometimes thousands) of dollars on moisturizers, toners, cremes and all kinds of anti-aging products\/remedies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But did you know that one of the main culprits of bad skin is stress?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And you know how to fix that, right?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We thought so. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Keeping skin moisturized and protected from the sun is still very important, but one of the most important ways to maintain healthy skin is reducing stress. And if there\u2019s a surefire way to deal with stress, it\u2019s massage therapy. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here is how stress hurts our skin:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Stress makes skin more sensitive. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stress causes a chemical response in our bodies that makes skin more likely to break out as well as take a longer time to heal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When we are stressed, our bodies produce more cortisol and other hormones that basically tell our glands to produce more oil. More oil as we all know, makes our skin prone to acne and other skin problems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Stress worsens current skin issues.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For those of us already dealing with psoriasis, rosacea and\/or eczema, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/beauty\/skin\/the-effects-of-stress-on-your-skin\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stress will increase our symptoms<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> associated with them. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Stress can cause rashes and hives.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cosmopolitan.com\/style-beauty\/beauty\/how-to\/a39033\/stress-signs-hair-skin-nails\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">skin conditions can be a result of dysbiosis<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, an imbalance in your gut between good and bad bacteria \u2013 something that can occur when stress builds up.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Stress can make those wrinkles worse<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While there\u2019s no definite proof of furrowed brows leading to more wrinkles, there has been <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/script\/main\/art.asp?articlekey=78103\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a study confirming that stress leads to cells aging faster,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which would certainly contribute to more skin wrinkles sooner. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Stress interferes with daily skin care. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stress has a way of distracting us from our regular routines. We tend to eat unhealthy food and skip regular care routines \u2013 both of which are likely to aggravate skin problems. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And as a sad irony, having skin problems will often lead to even more stress, exacerbating our feelings of depression or anxiety that we may already be experiencing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Enter massage therapy. Even just 10-15 minutes of trigger point therapy has been <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amtamassage.org\/statement2.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">proven to lower cortisol levels and decrease blood pressure<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The lower cortisol will prevent a lot of skin problems from developing and the lower blood pressure will keep our stress in check to further reduce skin problems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to eating the right foods, occasionally detoxifying and always staying hydrated and using sunscreen protection, regular massage is a perfect anti-stress remedy that will prevent many skin problems before they have a chance to break out (pun intended)!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Everyone likes to have nice skin.
