When we feel chronic stress, it can often lead to Generalized Anxiety Disorder, which affects about <\/span><a style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pacificcollege.edu\/acupuncture-massage-news\/articles\/778-therapeutic-massage-for-generalized-anxiety-disorder.html\">6.8 million<\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"> adults in the United States.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">An anxious person is often overly stressed about daily tasks and issues such as money, work and family.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">GAD and chronic stress can produce both physical and psychological symptoms.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">This is why massage can help us.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Massage therapy promotes relaxation but can also successfully reduce both physical and psychological symptoms of stress and anxiety.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Relief from Psychological Symptoms<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">GAD causes a higher production cortisol (the stress hormone), which puts the body into <\/span><a style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.massageenvy.com\/benefits-of-massage-therapy\/massage-for-anxiety.aspx\">\u201cflight-or-flight\u201d<\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"> mode.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Massage can increase the body\u2019s levels of oxytocin and serotonin \u2013 the <\/span><a style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.massageenvy.com\/benefits-of-massage-therapy\/massage-for-anxiety.aspx\">hormones<\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"> that make us feel happier \u2013 which allows us to feel less stressed.
