Have you ever noticed how stress and anxiety seem to stick around much longer than the “event” itself?
Why is it that we hold on to our negative emotions the longest?
Join us in a simple yet valuable practice…
LET IT GO.
Did you just say to yourself, “I wish…”? We thought you might, so here are our favorite, practical ways to release that negative energy and get grounded:
5 Second Dance Party
Even if it’s behind your desk at work, in your car, or in the privacy of your own home, it feels really good to shake it out and shake it off. Getting your body moving can bring you out of that funk.
Meditative Breathing
Relax the muscles in your face, shoulders, and stomach. Take a long, slow breath through your nose, first filling your lower lungs, then your upper lungs. Hold your breath to the count of three. Exhale slowly through pursed lips. If you find yourself still thinking about your to-do list, try silently reciting the ABCs while lengthening your inhales and exhales through each round. Focusing on this very simple song that requires little thinking means less time wondering what’s coming next.
Tidy Up
Cleaning is both a positive and productive way to cope with stress and anxiety. The best part about it? Not only will your space be organized but your body and mind are likely to feel more centered as well.
Book a Massage
Massage is medically proven to reduce tension both physically and mentally. Its benefits are nearly boundless. Practice mindful meditation during an upcoming massage session to push negativity out of the body.
