What’s better than receiving a top-notch professional massage and feeling thoroughly relaxed, calm and rejuvenated afterwards?
Sharing the experience with a friend or significant other.
While many places call a service performed on two people at the same time a “couples massage”, it is not just limited to people in romantic relationships. Sure, it’s a great “date-night” experience, but it can also be a perfect “girls night out” activity or just a great way to relax with a friend after a long week at work.
Why a couples massage?
If you have a partner, use massage as a shared experience that helps get both of you “on the same (relaxed) level”. Massage is a great way to dissolve the stresses of modern living, and connecting with each other is infinitely easier when both of you are in an open, relaxed and calm state.
Consider making massage the first step of a day or evening with your significant other. You may find it enhances the quality of your time together dramatically.
One reason is simple biology – massage releases mood enhancing chemicals in the brain that produce positive emotions while reducing the amount of biological markers in the body that cause stress and pain.
If you’re feeling loose, content and open, you’re likely to feel more connected.
Couples massage for non-couples
A couple’s massage is nothing more than two people getting massages on separate tables by two different massage therapists in the same room.
But there’s nothing to say you have to be together. For some, massage is best enjoyed without the distraction of another person in the room. That doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the experience at the same time though – just book two individual sessions, and reconnect after your respective sessions.
The best part of couples massage is the shared experience, so take advantage of some time with a friend or partner and enjoy the relaxation experience together.

Hello, Gregory
this is very nice article as i am spa professional i am using your services thanks
Hi Gregory! I am a huge fan of getting a couples massage. I personally love sharing the experience with my wife. I think you make a great point about the bodies chemical reaction and release of feel good chemicals. I am certain that is part of why I love sharing these moments with my wife! I have never considered getting a massage with a person other then my wife in the same room, have you seen this happen in a regular basis? I can certainly see a girls spa day scenario but do you see men engaging in the same practice? Thanks for taking the time to write about this!
