My name is Jeff Gilstrap and I grew up in Midvale, Utah! As an athlete my whole life, I am very familiar with how it feels to live with and manage pain. My first love was baseball, which allowed me to play in college for 3 schools and I finished my career at California State University, Dominguez Hills where I received my BA in Physical Education and started working as a personal trainer. Since then I have held multiple titles at different gyms such as 24 Hour Fitness and EoS fitness as well as gaining experience as a physical therapy aide.
I quickly realized how much I loved helping my clients reach their fitness goals but there was one problem I could not fix on my own, I found that most people deal with some form or chronic pain, movement inbalance, or an old injury that limits what they are able to do. I have always wanted to provide more relief and meaningful results to my clientele which is why I became a Licensed Massage Therapist and completed further education in Advanced Neuromuscular Massage Therapy at the National Holistic Institute in Ontario, CA. Whether you are just looking for massage therapy work, personal training, or both- our goal in working together is to find effective strategies, techniques and processes that will help to keep you moving forward.
I know how frustrating it can feel to live with aches, pains, and injuries which has guided my studies in anatomy, kinesiology, and physiology for the last 6 years. I have also felt what it’s like to be on the other side of an active life, being trapped in a desk all day or driving for hours everyday to commute to appointments. This has all led me to where I am now and my ultimate goal at Pro-Active Bodyworks is to provide a safe space for healing, exercise, and affective massage therapy to our “Small Lake City” community.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and dogs Kallie (Lab Husky) and Marlow (Siberian Husky), exploring restaurants and food around the SLC area, catching a Bee’s game here and there, and doing what I can to take care of and promote longevity in my own body.
