Welcome! Along with fresh air, plenty of sleep, and exercise; massage is yet another way that you can positively impact your health and general well being.
Perhaps you work in the medical field, are a busy parent, spend your days or nights in the service industry, or a body worker/tattoo artist/construction worker yourself? Massage is a perfect way to address alignment issues we encounter from being on our feet and using our bodies all day and the aches and pains that often come with it.
Perhaps you sit at a desk each day at work, commute long hours, or hunch over your creative endeavors all day--but play hard after work in a spinning class, rock climb, run, or hike? Massage can be a powerful tool for creating more ease in movement and decrease the occurrence of injury.
No matter the reason for coming to my massage table, I will always strive to truly listen to your needs. I believe in the body's innate ability to heal itself--so it's my job to help ease stress, un-kink tight muscles, and unwind your nerves to help make that healing possible. Let's work together to help you be as comfortable, present, and joyful in your body as possible!
Come and practice the self care that our bodies so deeply crave! Anchor Massage Therapy is located in the Northside of Richmond in the beautiful Ginter Park neighborhood. There is a private off-road parking lot in front of the studio as well as ample parking on Noble Avenue.

1000 Hour Massage Therapy Program
Anna Marie is a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) and offers intuitive, client-centered, therapeutic massage with a focus on anxiety and stress management. Heated Thai herbal compresses are used in each massage session (with the exception of prenatal). These steaming herbal compresses help treat ailing joints and muscles and enhance the benefits of the bodywork session. The heat and aromas of the compresses allow the client to drift into a place of true healing--while tension and aches and pains easily exit from the body. Anna Marie graduated from Brian Utting School of Massage in Seattle, WA in 2007. She is certified through the Virginia Board of Nursing and a member of Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals. She is also a student studying under Damion Bond in the Shivagokomarpaj Old Medicine Hospital lineage of Thai Folk Medicine. Modalities include Swedish, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular Technique, Sports, rehabilitative, therapeutic, and prenatal and postnatal massage. Her clients range from young to mature, active to less active, and folks of all shapes and abilities. Anna Marie is also an RVA transplant by way of Seattle, mother to two little people, a yoga enthusiast, and an alignment nerd.
