I'm as awestruck by science as I am by beauty - of the natural world, a handmade craft, or poetry. I can get lost in an anatomy book or beach-combing for rocks on the shore of Lake Michigan.
I love exploring the inter-relatedness of life. How our thoughts and emotions effect our body. How the state of health of our body effects our mind. I love exploring the inter-relatedness of life. How our thoughts and emotions effect our body. How the state of health of our body effects our mind. How society effects our everyday actions and how our everyday actions effect society. I enjoy looking at the world with a wide angle and then zoom in on details. The same happens when I'm doing bodywork. I start with a broad approach and then tune into the fine nuances, zeroing in on areas of holding.
My Path to Massage Therapy
I went through a pretty rough patch in my twenties. During this time I discovered how an excellent psychotherapist and a wise massage therapist can, each in their own way, transform a life. After strengthening and developing my inner landscape, and learning to nurture and listen to my body, I decided it was time to make a career change. For 7 years I had been working as an interior designer, now I wanted to do something in the healing arts. It was a choice between pursuing counceling or bodywork. It was, of course, bodywork that won my heart. There is something in the physicality and movement of the work, and the quiet, meditative space that suites me best.
Nurturing and developing my mind, body, and spirit is an ongoing process to which I'm committed. I believe each person is the source of their own healing, that you are your own medicine. When we can relax into our lives and bodies, we can become aware of and access that medicine and wisdom, and know what's best for ourselves. My job is to create a space conducive to that process and support you in your journey of wellbeing.
