I decided on a career in massage therapy 13 years ago when I realized how much massage truly helped facilitate healing in people. I love that I am able to help with pain, stress management, injuries, headaches, chronic conditions, athletics, pre and post surgical, prenatal and much more.

Massage therapy and Spa program
In the past I have taught a full body stretch class to other massage therapists. It was a four hour class to show how to do passive stretching on the full body of clients on the massage table. It is very useful in increasing range of motion decreasing pain and could be a stand alone session or incorporated into a regular massage. This class was a big hit and taught multiple times to different therapists.
Over the past several years I have been doing treatment massage which consists of but isn't limited to working specific muscle groups, areas of the body (ie neck, low back, shoulder etc.) trigger points and scar tissue to promote healing, increased range of motion and decrease pain and stiffness. This specific type of massage work helps with new/old injuries, car accidents, chronic conditions, headaches, post surgical healing/mobility. Site-specific treatment massage is very muscle specific and very effective and I have found that the client gets better results then just a regular full body massage.
One thing I have always incorporated into my massage is passive stretching (stretching that the therapist does while the client is relaxed). Stretching during massage may also help with increasing range of motion/flexibility, decreasing tension in the muscles, improving circulation, easing joint achiness and much more. There are so many benefits to including stretching with your massage. If a muscle group is tight and short and we do massage techniques to loosen those areas but we do not lengthen the muscles they may return to the state of tension a lot quicker. It is good to think of it in this way: loosen tension and lengthen muscles for greater and longer lasting relief. Stretching coupled with massage also greatly impacts workouts, sports and very physically active peoples lives.
